Acupuncture Traditional Chinese herbal medicine

Laura Aoki L.Ac, Diplo.O.M.,RM

Hi, my name is Laura Aoki, and I am the owner and licensed acupuncturist here at Blue Tree Acupuncture. I have accumulated over eight years experience in a professional, clinical setting. As an acupuncturist, I treat a variety of conditions and currently specialize in pain management and facial acupuncture.

I practice acupuncture as a holistic form of healing that simultaneously treats the mind, body, and spirit. It is an energetic form of healing that brings harmony and balance to the body. I am also a certified Reiki Master and Crystal Healer, supplemental modalities which both enhance and compliment acupuncture.

I care deeply about each and every one of my patients and will listen to all of your healthcare concerns in order to customize a treatment plan to fit your specific needs.

In my spare time, I enjoy reading, practicing yoga, jogging, and spending time with my husband and two children.

What is Acupuncture and How Does it Work?

Small needles about the size of a hair follicle are placed in the body into specific acupuncture points. These points are located along meridians or pathways that perform specific functions within the body. All of these pathways or meridians are also associated with our organs and their functions. Blood and Qi (life energy) run through these channels allowing our body to perform at its optimal level. Traditional Chinese medicine believes internal/external pathogenic factors such as cold, heat, dampness, and dryness can cause pain or disease.  Our bodies are designed to function perfectly when balanced, but when too much or too little of these factors invade our bodies, it causes illness. The acupoints have specific functions such as reducing heat, draining dampness, or moistening dryness, allowing our bodies to remain at a perfect balance. An imbalance inside our internal environment can also cause blockage or lack of blood and qi flow to these pathways or meridians creating discordance. The purpose of acupuncture is to restore balance inside the body allowing the body to naturally heal itself.

Initial Acupuncture Treatment and Consultation   $95

Acupuncture is an ancient practice that has been used for thousands of years. It involves the insertion of tiny, thin needles into specific, targeted parts of the body stimulating blood flow and energy flow while also relieving pain, treating illness or disease. The World Health Organization recognizes Acupuncture to be effective in treating over 100 conditions.

Follow Up  $80

Acupuncture is a cumulative process. While some may notice improvement after a single treatment, you will usually need multiple treatments to resolve your problem. Acupuncture promotes healing at different rates from one individual to the next. Once your health concern is resolved maintenance is usually determined by your symptoms

Facial Acupuncture  $95

Facial Acupuncture is the only anti-aging procedure that improves your general health while it enhances your physical appearance, by treating not just the face, but the entire body. Imbalances inside the body can cause skin problems such as acne, wrinkles, and dry skin.
By treating the root cause of these issues we can eliminate the underlying source, preventing them from returning in the future.
Tiny needles, about the size of a hair follicle, are inserted into the face producing "cosmetic" results while simultaneously improving your general health.

Cupping  $50

Cupping therapy is a technique that offers a wide range of benefits. A series of thick-walled glass cups are placed on your skin. Inside the glass cup, a small vacuum is created producing suction to the skin. Patients looking to alleviate pain and inflammation, increase blood flow, eliminate toxins, and promote relaxation can benefit from cupping.

Reiki  $50

Reiki an age-old Japanese form of energy healing is a non-invasive healing technique that channels universal life force energy. It is transferred from the practitioner to the patient allowing emotional or physical healing. Energy can become blocked where there has been physical or emotional trauma, and Reiki targets energy fields that exist around and within the body.

Crystal Add On

Gemstones emit electromagnetic and light energy so they are an excellent supplement to an acupuncturist’s ability to stimulate and direct the flow of healing energy. Stones can also remind us that we are an integral part of nature by helping us regain our relationship to natural rhythms of energy that we have lost over time.

Herbal Tinctures $Prices Vary

Herbal supplements in Chinese medicine are almost as important as acupuncture itself and I tailor my prescriptions to treat your unique needs. The formulas prescribed are based on both ancient and modern blends that strengthen your body‘s natural ability to heal and are always a natural derivative, primarily of plants.  I am now offering homemade herbal tinctures. Tinctures are the strongest form of herbal medicine because the concentrated liquid is full of just the desired medicinal components leaving the rest of the plant behind. They are safe, affective, and easy to use.

Frequently Asked Questions

Holistic Care Questions

Do the Needles Hurt?

No, the needles do not hurt. In fact, the needles help the body to release endorphins which promotes relaxation.  There are certain sensations associated with acupuncture such as warmth, heaviness, distention, or even an electric sensation. These sensations are temporary and usually very mild.

How Many Sessions Are Needed for Acupuncture to Be Effective?

Typically, the longer the patient has had the condition, the longer the course of the treatment before they experience substantial or lasting results. Acupuncture can be done as little as once a month or as often as five times a week.

Do Western medical doctors approve of Acupuncture?

Yes, all Acupuncturists are licensed under the Medical Board. In addition, the World Health Organization recognizes more than 100 health conditions that can be treated with acupuncture. The  FDA considers the needles as medical devices.

What Kind of Conditions Can Acupuncture Treat?

Acupuncture can treat a full range of conditions such as acute illness--like the flu and the common cold--as well as chronic diseases, for instance allergies, gynecological disorders, autoimmune diseases, degenerative diseases due to aging. It can even treat depression, anxiety, and other emotional disorders.

What Should I Expect During My First Visit?

During your first visit, your acupuncturist will conduct a thorough evaluation of your current and past health history. Based on your main complaint and initial intake a treatment plan will be customized to fit your specific needs.
